Deep within the remote and untouched rainforests of New Zealand’s northern island, you’ll find the beekeepers of Manawa Honey. While internationally recognised in several honey competitions, it is the beekeepers connection to the local land that makes these wild forest honeys so special. This Tūhoe land: the indigenous Māori tribe who are the guardians of this vast forest, Te Urewera.

PUHI is a sister brand of Manawa Honey, and is a Māori run skincare company local to the Te Urewera rainforest. To express their identity through product photography, we scavenged all props from Manawa Honey’s premises: from natural materials, the skincare ingredients and old tools to objects linked to their indigenous practices.

WORLD DESTRUCTION BUT MAKE IT FASHION (2022)

Giant models in hand-recycled costumes pose vainly in miniature worlds that, being too self-centered, they carelessly trample. WDBMIF is a photo series critical of the actual influence of the “social media influencer,” making ironic connections between fast-fashion trends and climate conflicts. Photographed aesthetically in appropriate editorial style, the series might be pleasing to the eye - but its message heavy on the heart.
